Since my retirement from my science career in 2014, I have, as my friends say, started a second career as an artist. The Pandemic helped launch a part of that, as in my studio, I found myself painting every day. Because art had always been in my life I had enough supplies on hand, watercolors, pastels, acrylics and charcoals to keep me busy. It was like an art retreat! My paintings often reflect my love of the Oregon landscape, the ocean, and my travels to Europe.
I have been in Oregon for over 50 years and chose to move to Corvallis a few years ago. Here I have found Vistas and Vineyards Plein air group and the Corvallis Art Guild. And last year I discovered the Fire and Light Glass Guild here in Corvallis. I have worked with glass on and off for the last 25 years, so this year I joined in making new glass, showing and selling it at the Oregon State University Holiday Market in early December. This year’s studio tour will include some of my recent glass work in addition to my paintings.
Just a short distance from Corvallis, you can find my art at the John Stromme and Friends Art Gallery in McMinnville and the Green Heron Gallery in Philomath. Very happy to now be a part of the Northside Open Studios Tour! I enjoy my art and want to share it with you!
